Usher examines the political philosophy of hip hop culture. Its political orientations emanate from the religious and political worldviews of Black Theology and African-American variants of Islam. These ideologies are the foundation of hip hop culture's political philosophy. While a political philosophy is visible within hip hop, its historical source, influence on the music and artists and contemporary impact are rarely examined. In addition, politicised materials rarely reach a wide audience.
