About the book
Every weekend, our narrator helps out at her umma's shop. She staples labels together and finds the perfect button to replace the ones that have fallen from their garments. One day, she is shaken by an exchange between her mother and an angry customer that turns ugly. But in the days that follow, she learns that community - made from mismatched fabric and held together by messy stitches - can be strong and beautiful despite its flaws. This powerful and empathetic story will resonate with readers of all ages.
