An analytical study of post-liberation Eritrea, offering an account of the events and developments that have taken place in the country's politics, economy and foreign relations since independence. Mengisteab and Yohannes seek to illuminate objectively the internal and external difficulties Eritrea has faced in building a democratic society, viable economy and sustainable foreign policy after liberation. Structural, historical and leadership patterns are invoked to account for the striking similarities between post-colonial Eritrea and other post-colonial African states.
