About the book

Abdul Rahman Katanani's art is not only uplifting and energising, it encourages reflection and new perspectives on current events. His sculptures and installations stand as magnificent artworks given further meaning by his life experiences. He was born in 1983 in the Sabra-Shatila Palestinian camp in Lebanon, soon after it suffered a horrifying massacre. From his studio in Sabra today, Katanani gives new life to the everyday materials he finds around him - barbed wire, corrugated sheets, oil drums and more - reflecting the experiences of his community and resolutely choosing creativity as a means of expression, defiance, and a source of solace in a true friendship with art.
