About the book

In Dawn, translated into English for the first time, legendary Turkish feminist Sevgi Soysal brings together dark humour, witty observations, and trenchant criticism of social injustice, militarism, and gender inequality. A dinner between old friends - Oya, the leftist in exile, Ali, and their new acquaintance Mustafa is interrupted when bumbling policemen rush them into interrogation rooms. Through the encounter, Oya relives the wild resilience and pain of her times in prison.
