Organised crime has taken hold in West Africa, and two syndicates are locked in a decade-long bloody struggle for supremacy. There are the Onisagbe, or widow makers, whose claim to these streets dates back to the time when the city's first foundation stones were laid. Then there's Awon Woli, a group of Liberians from over the border in Monrovia who have established in the area after fleeing their homeland. Now Awon Woli have kidnapped the Onisagbe kingpin's daughter, in preparation for sacrifice. The ancient prophecies they follow demand that the girl die before her thirteenth birthday. To get her back the Onisagbe are going to have to go to war, facing the threat of old gods and new.
