Detective Inspector Embla Nystrom is glad to be taking a vacation from her high-stress job to attend the annual moose hunt. But when she arrives at her uncle's cabin an unfamiliar face has joined the group: the enigmatic Peter. And she isn't the only one to notice. One long-time member of the hunt doesn t welcome the outsider; Peter's presence makes thirteen, a bad omen. Sure enough two hunters disappear. Embla takes charge of the search, and they soon find one of the men floating facedown in the nearby lake. Now Embla must delve into the dark pasts of her fellow hunters in search of a killer.
