The stories in Personal Attention Roleplay are propelled by queer loneliness, mixed-race confusion, late capitalist despondency, and the intersections of intimate and political power. Largely set in Montreal, they centre young diasporic Asians struggling to navigate the dissonant space between cultures as well as the shifting desires and realities of QTBIPOC relationships. Chau Bradley's precise language and investigation of our more troubling motivations stand out in this eerie debut, through stories that hint at the uncanny but are grounded in the details of everyday life.
