The book is dedicated to addressing the important issue that the hydro-ecological integrity of Lake Victoria and the welfare of lakeshore communities will not be safeguarded under the inherent nature of capitalism to externalise costs to the environment and poverty to society while internalizing the benefits to the exploiters, a situation which is contextualised by the lower status of the littoral states in the global division of labour.
