About the book
In his film Shall We Dansu, which was later turned into the Hollywood blockbuster Shall We Dance, filmmaker Masayuki Suo told the endearing story of a lonely reserved businessman's blossoming from a social misfit into a confident dancer. He parallels that evolution here by telling the story of a rag-tag group of college kids who turn from half-hearted sumo incompetents into gung-ho champions. This is not a story about wrestling, but one of the human spirit and overcoming adversity in the face of overwhelming odds.
