Allen Zadoff has written a funny and heartbreaking contemporary young adult novel about a Jewish teen's struggle to keep his family together while searching for God (and himself) while his mother plans to run away with her guru. The questions of faith and belonging within this novel will resonate with Jewish readers and those of other faiths. Zadoff's novels have been compared to John Hughes movies - appealing group of characters, hilarious scenes and true heart. This one also has a strong Jewish interest but will appeal to a far wider readership.
