In the 1970s, William S.Burroughs and artist Malcolm McNeill embarked on an epic project to produce a book length meditation on time, power and control that evoked the Mayan Codices and the God of Death. Although Ah Pook was never finished in its intended form, Malcolm McNeill included nearly a hundred paintings, illustrations and sketches for the book and these, finally, are seeing the light of day here. Burroughs' text is not included yet, even without the context of worlds, they represent a beautiful precursor to the graphic novel.
