When Jack Kamen's wholesome approach to comics storytelling conspired with Al Feldstein's delightfully deceptive scripts, the result was futuristic fantasies and high-tech romances that veer suddenly out of control. Kamen delights in bringing Feldstein's wicked imagination to graphic life in these mostly-pulpy stories, but it's not all sex and self-deception. There's surprisingly sharp social and political commentary, as well, with stories that foreshadow the threat of climate change as well as contemporary philosophical debates about the perils and morality of artificial intelligence.
