Best friends since they met as children in care, Donna and Carla run the all-female Bronte Close Gang on the toughest streets of Manchester. The women keep their heads down and run their business their way: partying on Canal Street, selling drugs in club toilets and working as cleaners to account for their illegal income. But when Carla is gunned down for seducing the wife of a local gangster, it is left to Donna to keep her ten-year-old daughter out of the care system, galvanise the gang and mastermind a plan for retribution, all while mourning her soulmate.
