About the book
In this grittiest of novels Goines takes the reader into the world of pimps and prostitution. Whoreson Jones, the novel's hero, is the son of a beautiful black hooker and an unknown white punter. By the age of sixteen he is a fully fledged pimp, cold-blooded and ruthless fighting to survive in a world of sudden violence and brutal sex. A startling glimpse into the hell of the inner city, yet bristling with bitter humour and defiant pride.
