Otherworld dreams of a new affinity between the human and the non-human, the organic and the inorganic, and transforms existing rankings. We see familiar yet alienated landscapes, plants with eyes, heads floating in the forest and eyes on a red-tinted seabed. Otherworld is set in a structure of youth and love with aspects of magic, mysticism and esotericism. Like youth itself, Hertta Kiiski's photographs occupy a precarious state between daydream and being driven. With its mix of analogue snapshots and staged, digitally edited portraits from a period of seven years, the book weaves together the imaginary and the everyday. Kiiski's work has been exhibited internationally in numerous galleries and museums. Otherworld is her third book published by Kehrer Verlag.
